Know what’s next, before they do!

In poker, not only do we need to know what we're going to do before we do it, we also need to know our opponents’ moves before they do!

And while that may sound complicated and clairvoyant and something only pro players do, really it's nothing to do with our opponent's game and everything to do with ours.

Consider this: We've made a pair on the flop and have decided to continuation bet. Great! But what's the plan? What are the perceivable outcomes? What are we trying to achieve with our bet? Are we looking to get value? Are we bluffing? Are we bet-folding versus a raise? Are we 4-bet shoving vs aggression?

We need to have a clear idea in our head of what we will do AFTER the thing we are going to do. And it's not complicated 4D chess - the parameters are much smaller: The opponent can fold to your bet. They can call your bet. Or they can raise.

And having already made these decisions before our first bet even hits the table, there can be no surprises when our opponent acts. Our choices are clear and we've completely eliminated being caught off guard and forced into making mistakes.

And if there are no mistakes, there are no bad beats, and if there are no bad beats, we continually play optimal, profitable poker, session after session, hand after hand.
